The AACC Annual Scientific Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo is the world’s largest gathering of laboratory professionals from across the world. This global meeting brings the laboratory community together and provides the latest education to meet the evolving needs of laboratory professionals. A major part of the meeting is AACC’s Poster Hall, which features research covering the breadth of laboratory medicine, provides unique networking opportunities, and showcases award-winning abstracts.
The Annual Meeting Organizing Committee (AMOC) for the 2023 AACC Annual Scientific Meeting invites you to submit your research to share as a poster with the laboratory community.
General Requirements
The following general requirements pertain to all submitted abstracts:
- Membership. You do not need to be an AACC member to submit a poster abstract.
- Multiple submissions. Authorship on multiple poster abstracts is permitted. Submission of multiple poster abstracts with similar content may result in the rejection of one or more submissions.
- Prior publication. The content must not have been previously published in a copyrighted, peer reviewed journal, such as Clinical Chemistry, by any one or more of the submitting authors. This does not apply to previous publication in an AACC local section or division newsletter or publication in conference proceedings that are distributed to conference attendees.
- Technical information. Relevant technical information cannot be withheld on the grounds that such information is proprietary. Statements such as “results will be discussed” are unacceptable.
- Promotions. Poster abstracts may not contain any type of advertising or logos.
Abstract Title
Provide a title of 200 characters or fewer using title casing. Do not use ALL CAPS. A title should catch a viewer’s attention and clearly represent the topic of your poster.
Topics
Select a primary (required) and secondary (optional) topic that best represents your abstract. Each submission must be linked to at least one of the following topics. These topics are used during the review to ensure matching expertise from reviewers and help determine when your poster will be presented during the meeting.
- Animal Clinical Chemistry
- Automation and Analytical Techniques
- Cardiac Markers
- Clinical and Diagnostic Immunology
- Data Analytics, Informatics, and Statistics
- Endocrinology and Metabolism
- General Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine
- Hematology and Coagulation
- Laboratory Management and Patient Safety
- Lipids, Lipoproteins, and Cardiovascular Risk Factors
- Mass Spectrometry and Separation Sciences
- Microbiology and Infectious Disease
- Molecular Diagnostics and Genetics
- Pediatric and Maternal Fetal Medicine
- Point-of-Care Testing
- Proteomics and Protein Markers

Abstract
If accepted, the abstract — including title, author information, and body — will appear in the mobile app and online program, and in the printed program guide (if registration is completed by the Early deadline).
If presented at the meeting, the abstract will also be included in a supplement published in AACC's Clinical Chemistry.
Abstract body: Abstracts can have a maximum length of 500 words. With a table or graphic/image, the maximum is 300 words. DO NOT include the title or author information in the abstract body. You can enter the abstract body into the system directly or import it via a file upload. Tables will be imported along with any text. Graphics or images will not be imported. Once you upload the file, you will be able to edit the text and/or table online. Note that uploading a file overwrites any existing content. Each abstract should contain the following:
- Background
- Methods
- Results
- Conclusion
Tables (optional): Tables can be uploaded or created online, within the system. They can have a maximum of 15 rows and 10 columns. Once created, tables can be relocated within the abstract, if needed.
Figures (optional): Graphics or images must be uploaded online. Supported file formats are limited to BMP, GIF, JPG, and PNG. Once created, graphics/images can be relocated within the abstract, if needed.
