For a case report/series (featuring a single instructive case or a series of up to 10 cases), emphasise the unique aspects of the case(s) and discuss learning points emerging from the case(s). The ECCMID Programme Committee will review and select abstracts to be presented at ECCMID 2023 during Case sessions or as paper posters and/or ePosters.

CGR cases
For an instructive case to be presented during the prestigious ECCMID 2023 CGR session. The ECCMID Programme Committee will review the abstracts for the CGR session selection.

Important: Abstracts not selected for CGR session will be included in the review with Case report abstracts submitted for ECCMID 2023.
TAE Research Bites – new at ECCMID 2023!!!
For novel data that has not been previously presented or published. The submission is reserved for the ESCMID Young Scientist Member enrolled in CM ID/IC training or a PhD programme who want to increase their chances of being selected for an oral presentation. ESCMID TAE and SAS members will select abstracts to be presented at ECCMID 2023 during the TAE Research Bites session.

ALL CAPS for text (other than abbreviations or acronyms) are not allowed. The abstract text cannot be longer than 350 words.
Title
Abstract title should be concise and must be submitted in line with scientific rules. This applies to special characters and words that need to be CAPITALISED or italicised.
Please DO NOT capitalise title except first word, DO NOT use a dot to finish title.
Please DO NOT use any brand names in the title. ESCMID reserves rights to proof and adjust titles according to ESCMID guidelines format without consent of the author
Abstract body
Use the provided fields to draft your abstract. The text of the entire abstract must not exceed 350 words (word count includes title, excluding figure descriptions). Please ensure that different sections of your abstract are entered into the appropriate textbox. For research abstracts, briefly state the background, context of research, and its goals.
The methods section should provide minimum required information on the research setting, data collection, and analytical methods.
The results presented in the abstract should be original, not published or presented previously.
For case report/series and CGR cases (usually featuring a single instructive case or a series of up to 10 cases) emphasise the unique aspects of the case and discuss the learning points emerging from the case(s).
Reviews only or abstracts without data content cannot be accepted.
Pictures/Graphs/Tables
Please use the figure upload fields at the bottom to select up to 3 images. Figure sections can be used to upload images, graphs, or tables.
Accepted formats: JPEG or PNG. Size: 1000x1000 pixels max. File size: up to 5 MB. Images larger than provided dimensions will be automatically resized to an A4 format in your submission confirmation.
Please double-check the readability of uploaded materials before submitting your abstract.
Spelling guidelines
Use British English spelling throughout. The International System of Units (SI) should be used wherever appropriate. Genus and species names should be written in full as the first mentioned and abbreviated subsequently.
The following scientific rules apply (examples in brackets):
- Systematic names (genus, family, and higher orders): capitalized (e.g., Chlamydia, Enterobacterales Picornaviridae)
- Non-English expressions in English texts are written in italics (e.g., in vitro/in vivo, ad hoc, ex officio)
- Taxonomic names must be italicised (e.g., Staphylococcus aureus, Clostridium difficile)
- Non-systematic names (e.g., plural): lower case and not italicized (group A streptococci, mycobacteria)
- Generic drug names: lower case (e.g, penicillin)
- Do not use brand names in titles: product names are allowed in the abstract text, but must be avoided in the title
- Please follow standard English grammar rules including a space after full stops and commas
- Only common abbreviations may be used without definition

All case and case series abstracts will be automatically assigned to the category 13. Cases

Authors are asked to enter three keywords to better define the abstract content.
Submit your abstract
You can save your abstract at any time. Please make sure to fill all fields correctly before final submission. Changes in the abstract are not possible after submission. After submission, a confirmation by email will be sent to the submitter (please make sure to state your correct email address!). All co-authors will be notified by email and will receive a copy of the submitted abstract. The submitter is responsible for obtaining permission for submission and presentation of the abstract from all co-authors and any relevant stakeholders. All correspondence regarding acceptance or rejection, including further information on the mode of presentation etc. will be sent to the presenting author. In case an abstract will be rejected as an oral presentation, its possibility to be accepted as a poster still remains. If so, the authors will be informed via e-mail.
Should you decide to change the type of abstract once you have started the submission, please withdraw your current abstract and re-start the submission process with new content.
