Abstracts
Call for abstracts – the submission of abstracts for the ERS Congress 2025 will open on 5 December, 2024.
Submitting abstracts for the Congress offers researchers the chance to share their preliminary findings at the world’s largest respiratory meeting, helping to boost research as it progresses and enabling the exchange of the latest findings in respiratory medicine and science. All Congress abstracts are also published online in a supplement of the European Respiratory Journal.

Calls for abstracts in 2025
There will be three opportunities to submit abstracts for the upcoming ERS Congress:

Randomised controlled trial (RCT) abstracts |
The most ground-breaking RCT submissions will be presented as part of the ‘Abstracts Leading to Evolution in Respiratory Medicine Trials’ sessions, offering a perfect platform to showcase important and very late-breaking clinical trial data from all respiratory disease areas. A €150.00 submission fee applies per abstract. |

How to submit abstracts
Once the submission is open, all abstracts must be submitted online through myERS, allowing authors to review, edit and submit abstracts from one easy-to-access platform. Abstracts sent by email will not be considered.
If you already have a myERS account, you will be able to sign in and start the submission process. Navigate to ‘Abstracts/Cases’, then ‘Congress’ and then ‘Access Abstracts Platform’ to get started.
If you do not have a myERS account, you can create an account for free. ERS membership is not required.
The recommended web browsers for accessing the submission platform are Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.
Authors who have applied for grants and sponsorship must ensure that they are listed as the corresponding author of the abstract. Please note that this information will be sent to the corresponding authors only.
Review and programme allocation
All abstracts are peer-reviewed for quality and suitability for the congress programme.
If accepted, the Congress Programme Committee will allocate successful abstracts to a variety of session types, including:
- Oral presentations
- Poster sessions
- Clinical trial sessions

Why submit clinical cases?
ERS encourages the respiratory community to submit interesting clinical cases for the ERS Congress. This is a great opportunity to share your experiences, have cases presented in front of key opinion leaders in the field and actively contribute to the largest meeting in the respiratory calendar. Submitted cases may also be considered for presentation in other ERS events/activities taking place throughout the year.

How to submit clinical cases
All clinical cases are submitted online through myERS, allowing contributors to review, edit and submit cases from one easy-to-access platform.
You may submit up to three cases per disease area, including:
- Airway diseases
- Interstitial lung diseases
- Paediatric respiratory diseases
- Pulmonary vascular diseases
- Respiratory critical care
- Respiratory infections
- Sleep and breathing disorders
- Thoracic oncology
When preparing cases for submission, please structure submissions under the following sections:
- Case history
- Investigations
- Results and treatment
- Conclusions and points for discussion
Once submission is open, you can submit your clinical case via myERS. Navigate to ‘Abstracts/Cases’, then ‘Congress’ and then ‘Access Clinical Cases Platform’ to get started.

Submitted cases may also be used as part of ERS’s wider educational activities outside of the Congress.
Notification of selection
Case submitters will be notified about the outcome of their submissions in June.

A copy of the ID/passport must be uploaded for any participants registered under the fee “Under 40”.
A proof of status must be uploaded for any participants registered under the fee “Allied Health Professional” or “Scientists (PhD, not MD)”. This proof must contain the following:
- The participant’s institution’s letterhead and/or logo
- The participant’s full name and date of birth
- Confirmation of the participant’s position within his/her institution
- The participant’s supervisor’s name, title and signature
- The participant’s institution’s stamp
