What to expect at the 100th EOS Congress

- All abstracts accepted for poster presentations will be presented as e-posters only. There will be no physical posters.
- For the 100th Congress, the EOS is introducing the opportunity to give a 3-minute flash poster presentation in the main auditorium. This opportunity is available to the 20 top-scoring abstracts accepted as scientific e-posters. The abstract submitter must indicate whether they wish to be considered for a flash poster presentation.
- There are no set topics to select as part of your submission for the 2025 Congress.
Submission Guidelines
1. Abstracts can be submitted for selection and inclusion as oral presentations, scientific posters or clinical posters.
2. This year, all abstracts accepted for poster presentations will be presented as e-posters only. There will be no physical posters.
3. For the 100th Congress, the EOS is introducing the opportunity to give a 3-minute flash poster presentation in the main auditorium. This opportunity is available to the 20 top-scoring abstracts accepted as scientific e-posters. The abstract submitter must indicate whether they wish to be considered for a flash poster presentation.
4. For the 2025 Congress, there are no topics to select as part of your submission.
3. Each participant may submit up to two abstracts as a presenting author, either an oral and e-poster OR two e-posters. This includes abstracts submitted for consideration for a flash poster presentation.
Abstracts not selected for oral presentations will be given the option to be presented as scientific or clinical e-posters. Therefore, do not submit the same abstract for both modes of presentation; duplicate abstracts will be discarded.
For the 100th Congress, the EOS is introducing two parallel session streams on 4 and 5 June, with one stream on the last day, 6 June. Up to 75 abstracts can be accepted for oral presentation in 2025.
‘Scientific e-posters’ include basic or clinical research, systematic reviews and meta-analyses. The abstracts judged by the Scientific Committee to fall into this category AND presented at the congress will be published in the European Journal of Orthodontics. These abstracts can also be considered for a 3-minute flash poster presentation if the abstract submitter indicates interest.
‘Clinical e-posters’ include clinical case reports, case series, presentation of new appliances and clinical techniques (without clinical testing). The abstracts judged by the Scientific Committee to fall into this category will not be published in the European Journal of Orthodontics.
4. Only five authors can be included in any one abstract.
5. All authors and co-authors should declare any financial interest.
6. On entering the abstract submission for the first time, submitters will need to create a new account. The selected login name and password can be used to view or amend the draft abstract before it is submitted by the deadline of 15 December 2024 at 23:59 CET. Once submitted, the abstract cannot be modified. You will receive an email acknowledgement confirming receipt. If you do not receive an acknowledgment, please contact: EOSabstracts@tfilodestar.com
7. Please read and adhere to the guidelines when submitting your abstract. Abstracts should contain no more than 350 words (excluding the title) and must be written in English and structured following the format provided on the submission system. The abstract should not contain references, figures, tables or illustrations.
8. Research that has already been published should be reported as such, including the relevant citation. A dedicated entry field is available in the abstract submission form for this purpose.
9. All submissions will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee prior to deciding whether they can be accepted in the final programme. It is the submitting author's responsibility to ensure that the abstract is accurate and well written.
Because the time allotted for oral presentations is limited and the number of submitted abstracts is usually far greater than the programme allows, abstracts submitted for oral presentation will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee using a blind review process. This includes independent rating by members of the committee and final selection based on aggregate scores. Please avoid including any identifying information in the main body of the abstract, to facilitate the blind review process.
The review will be based exclusively on the abstract content. Authors are advised not to rely on their, or their institution’s, reputation for acceptance of an oral presentation, as such information will not be available during the review process.
10. Notification of acceptance/rejection will be sent by email to the submitting author by 7 March 2025. If you have not received information concerning the abstract by that date, please contact: EOSabstracts@tfilodestar.com.
Abstracts will be rejected for the following reasons:
- Abstracts not submitted within the deadline.
- Abstracts not following the guidelines, with emphasis on formatting and word number.
- Narrative reviews will not be accepted for any mode of presentation.
- Ongoing research projects, with no results at the time of abstract submission, will not be accepted.
- Research published in 2023 or earlier will not be accepted unless significant updates have been made. Please report relevant information for assessment by the Scientific Committee.
- Abstracts may be rejected based on relevance and quality.
11. Only abstracts submitted by authors who have paid their congress registration fee in full by the 6 April 2025 will be included in the final programme and published.
12. All accepted poster presenters will be given a certificate at the end of the conference.
13. Abstracts of all accepted scientific e-posters and oral presentations will be published in the October issue of the European Journal of Orthodontics. EOS members receive the journal as part of their subscription. Please note that if you do not attend the Congress to present your oral or poster presentation in person, the abstract will not be published.
14. Please be aware that your submission must comply with the Radiation Protection and will be judged by European Standards. Reviewers may reject submissions that do not comply.
Radiation Protection: clinical practice, recommendations, regulations and legislation regarding the use of ionizing radiation in medicine and dentistry varies between countries.
The latest information regarding radiation protection in dentistry can be found under: https://ec.europa.eu/energy/sites/ener/files/documents/136.pdf
and https://ec.europa.eu/energy/sites/ener/files/documents/172.pdf
15. Intentional failure to follow the abstract submission guidelines may result in the submitter being excluded from presenting his/her work the following year.
16. Any matters not covered by the above will be handled by the Scientific Committee. The decision of the Scientific Committee regarding the acceptance of abstracts is final.
17. The annual prizes of the European Orthodontic Society will be considered and awarded for best scientific posters and best clinical poster. The winners will be judged at the Congress and presented with the award certificate and monetary prize at the Awards Ceremony on 6 June 2025.
